Rules Governing Council Members

Council Members are the only ones who carry a pearlsack for the distribution of Linkpearls.

Council Members must be completely dedicated to the Avengers Linkshell on Phoenix. Participation in other Linkshells should only occur under rare circumstances (HNM LS, Dynamis LS). If a council member decides to join a HNM or Dynamis linkshell, they must make that linkshell aware of their role and dedication to the Avengers and only wear the other pearl when it is necessary.

Linkpearls will not be distributed at will by any Council Member. Once the open enrollment has ended, applicants can receive a linkpearl in two ways:

  1. Be nominated by a current member in good standing, by nominating a applicant the member takes responsibility for the new member’s actions for a 30 day probationary period.
  2. Applicant must be a registered member of this forum with no less than 50 posts. This shows that the new member is interested and can get along with the rest of us. Applicants must also express a willingness to participate and contribute to the linkshell. After the applicant has reached a post count of 50 , a poll will run for 3 days in the Council forum where the applicant’s membership will be voted on. Applicant must receive a majority vote from the Council to obtain a linkpearl.

Avengers LS unlike many other linkshells will not place any rank or level restrictions on perspective members. Rank and level will have no bearing on acceptance into the linkshell.

Junior Council Members have minimal authority over linkshell members. They cannot tell a linkshell member what to do. A Junior Council Member may only enforce existing rules to resolve any issues that may arise while a Senior Council member is not online. They are also given moderator rights for all FFXI Forums on the web site.

Senior Council Members are in charge of the day to day running of the linkshell. They will be held accountable for the actions of the linkshell. They are also given moderator rights for all FFXI Forums on the web site.

All Council Members have the authority to remove a member for a serious infraction, however the action should be taken by most “senior” council member online at the time. This action should only be taken as a last resort, and it should be rare. Council Members should (when possible) take screenshots of supporting evidence BEFORE you boot someone in case there are questions later.

Council Members must use our web site and forums on a regular basis.

If you have a problem with ANY council member your method of escalation is direct to the Senior Council.

Appointment of Council Members

Only Senior Council Members may declare that we are seeking a new Council Member.

Please do not arbitrarily ask to become a Council Member unless a position opens.

Candidates for election to the Council may be nominated only by current Senior Council Members. They are then voted on by the entire linkshell.

No one may become a Council Member unless they have been a dedicated member of Avengers for at least 4 months, have received a nomination by a Council Member for an open Council position, and received a positive majority vote by the linkshell.

Member Rules

Please read these rules carefully. You are expected to abide by them in order to remain a member of our Linkshell.

Profanity is not allowed in general Linkshell chat. We try to be very understanding about this, however, any member consistently violating this rule after receiving warnings may be removed. Council Members are expected to have enough control never to do this, regardless of the circumstance. We want to keep the Linkshell chat as friendly and mature as possible.

Using the translator to create sexual innuendo isn’t really necessary. Please don’t do it. Thank you!

No discrimination of any kind is allowed in our Linkshell. Discriminatory comments or epithets to others about real life race, sex, orientation, or any other socially protected status will make you subject to immediate and permanent removal, no questions asked.

When you use Linkshell chat, please recognize that what you are typing goes to everyone. In an effort to keep LS chat from becoming overwhelming with non-FFXI related material, PLEASE BE AWARE that what you type IS sent to everyone and try to keep non-game related chat from becoming overwhelming. Have fun, and talk about what you want BUT just be conscious that some discussions are better suited to private chat.

Members are expected to keep up to date on Linkshell events by reading the website/forums. An active participation level is desired as well.

Members are expected to conduct themselves in an appropriate manner at all times. Be courteous to your fellow players whether or not they are in our Linkshell.

Members are expected to follow the PlayOnline Player Agreement. HOWEVER, those breaking that agreement can be reported by anyone, but the Council is NOT responsible for doing this. This is an individual choice of all FFXI players. We will not be a police state for the PlayOnline Player Agreement. If you suspect a violation of that agreement you may report Game Masters of your own accord.

Members will resolve conflicts with other members in a mature manner. You may, at your discretion, talk directly to the person that you are having issues with, or speak to a Council Member and ask for advice. Petty disputes between two individuals in Linkshell chat will prompt a Council member to ask you to take it private.

Members are not expected to always drop what they are doing to help another member. While a member will not be forced to do so, “What goes around comes around” will apply to all members, including the Council.

Members may be involved in other Linkshells. However, our Linkshell should be their primary Linkshell. Members that cannot dedicate most of their game time to wearing the Avengers pearl, should make up for it by being very active on the forums.
